School Overview

We are a well established and successful school, with over ten years experience working with foreign teachers to educate Taiwanese students. Our school can provide teachers an opportunity to teach students of kindergarten age right up to adult conversation classes. Students and teachers tend to remain with us for a long time, our senior teacher has been working with us for four years. We have high level teenage classes who are preparing for IELTS, and who provide a lively and rewarding challenge. We are looking for professional and enthusiastic teachers who like to interact with the students. We are happy to train first time teachers, and can provide a great environment for developing the careers of ambitious teachers. As we have so many students who have been with us for a long time, the school has a relaxed and friendly atmosphere with students who get along with the teachers well, and are keen to learn. The owner is always willing to help teachers settle in, and to help with cultural, language or professional queries.

School Resources

We have all the resources a creative teacher would expect a school to provide, including many games, internet access, and a well-trained and professional Taiwanese staff, who enjoy assisting the teachers.. We have recently developed an interactive computer room, which allows the students to use up to date software to practise what they have learnt in the classroom.

Location

We are located in Banchiao which is a modern part of the city, with excellent transport links to the rest of Taipei, and the island. The school is a ten minute walk to the High Speed Rail station which hooks Banchiao up with the rest of the island, the railway station and an MRT station. Banchiao has all the conveniences of a modern city, with great shopping, and excellent food.

Cost of Living

Rents in Banchiao are cheaper than in the centre of Taipei. A typical rent for a one or two bedroom house might be 10 000 NT dollars. A lunchbox from the local restaurants costs around 70 dollars. Typical living expenses for a month might be 20 000 to 30 000 dollars.

Accommodation

Accommodation is cheaper in Banchiao than most of Taipei and there is a large variety of accommodation available. Typical rent for an apartment is 10 000 dollars. The owner can help teachers find accommodation, usually within walking distance of the school.

Transportation

Banchiao is a planned city and conveniently connected to Taipei and the rest of the island. The school is ten minutes walk to Banchiao train station which is also an MRT station, a bus station and a stop on the High Speed Rail system.

Night Life

Banchiao has a famous night market, Nanyang Night Market, a modern high street and several bars and clubs. There are also many delicious restaurants.

Places to Visit

The most famous tourist attraction in Banchiao is the Lin Family Garden, a very attractive example of a traditional Chinese home and landscaped garden which is famous all over Taiwan. It is a peaceful place to spend an hour or two, and gives the visitor an interesting insight into Taiwan’s history.
